About Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (Tottenham Hotspur F.C., commonly known as Spurs), founded in 1882, is based at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (New White Hart Lane) in Tottenham, north London, England, and competes in the Premier League. Due to their traditional all-white home kits, Spurs fans refer to themselves as the "Lilywhites". The club’s motto, "Audere est Facere", translates to "To dare is to do".

Spurs have had a long-standing rivalry with neighboring Arsenal since World War I, and matches between the two are known as the "North London Derby".

Team History

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club was founded in 1882, with their first competitive match taking place in 1885 in the London Association Cup against St. Albans, which they won 5-2. In 1896, Spurs joined the Southern League. In 1899, they moved to their new home in Tottenham, named "White Hart Lane" after a nearby pub owned by the stadium’s landlord. They won their first Southern League title in 1900 and claimed the FA Cup in 1901, becoming the only non-league team in history to win the trophy. They joined the Football League in 1908.

Team Achievement

Spurs were the first team of the 20th century to win the league and FA Cup double. They are one of three clubs to win the FA Cup in consecutive years, and the only one to achieve this feat twice. In 1963, they won the European Cup Winners’ Cup, becoming the first British team to claim a European trophy. Throughout their history, Spurs have won two top-flight league titles, eight FA Cups, four League Cups, seven Community Shields, three UEFA Cup/Europa League titles, and one European Cup Winners’ Cup. In their most recent Europa League campaign, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United to lift the long-awaited trophy.
