Since its establishment in 2009, RB Leipzig has achieved four promotions within seven years. In 2016, RB Leipzig successfully gained promotion to the Bundesliga. In their first Bundesliga season, RB Leipzig once topped the standings but later suffered a slump in form, eventually finishing as runners-up in the league, with Emil Forsberg claiming the title of top assist provider in the Bundesliga that season. In the semi-finals of the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League, RB Leipzig lost 0-3 to French side Paris Saint-Germain, missing out on the final.
