Santos defeated Universidad Central de Venezuela 4-2, advancing with an aggregate score of 8-3 across the two legs. After the match, Neymar gave an interview and confirmed that he is bringing his international career to an end!
The 34-year-old Neymar stated: “I think my chapter with the Brazil national team has come to an end. I think... I have made history there, experienced so much and dedicated my life. I always gave everything to wear this yellow national team jersey in the past, but I think... I don't want to go back anymore.”
Neymar made his debut for the Brazil national team in 2010. Over 16 years, he earned 130 caps for Brazil senior national team, scoring 80 goals and providing 59 assists, and claimed the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup title.
In major tournaments, Neymar featured in three Copa América campaigns (2011, 2015, 2021), finishing as runner-up in Copa América 2021. He took part in four FIFA World Cups (2014, 2018, 2022, 2026), making 15 World Cup appearances with 9 goals and 4 assists. Additionally, he represented Brazil Olympic team to win the gold medal at the 2016 Olympics and the silver medal at the 2012 Olympics.
