According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Julián Álvarez has missed training for the third consecutive day. He is required to give Atlético Madrid his answer today, deciding whether to remain at the club or complete a transfer to Arsenal.

Many believe this saga has reached its conclusion, yet the most crucial party — Julián Álvarez himself — keeps generating fresh uncertainty. The Argentine player has skipped Atlético Madrid’s training sessions for three days running.

Atlético Madrid initially cited “physical discomfort” to explain his absences, but the situation has dragged on for so long that the player may well miss the fixture against Sevilla.

Julián Álvarez once again failed to take part in Atlético Madrid’s group training today, marking his third consecutive absence. Club sources state he is still suffering from “physical discomfort” and continues to feel “unwell”.

Meanwhile, his future remains under intense scrutiny, especially after Atlético Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín publicly criticised Barcelona and the striker’s agent. Gil Marín expressed his hope that Álvarez would stay at Atlético Madrid, yet added he would consider alternative solutions if the player harboured doubts — on the condition that he is not transferred to Barcelona.

The player must deliver his response within the day, choosing to stay at Atlético Madrid or sign for Arsenal.

As Atlético Madrid’s CEO has repeatedly stressed over recent weeks, the club will under no circumstances hold transfer negotiations with Barcelona regarding the forward. Barcelona tabled a €100‑million offer payable in six instalments back in late May, which was flat‑out rejected by Atlético Madrid. Furthermore, should Álvarez wish to join Barcelona, Atlético Madrid insists the club must pay the full €500‑million release clause.
