Official announcement: French football legend Zinedine Zidane, aged 54, has been appointed head coach of the France national football team, taking over from the departing Didier Deschamps.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Zidane has penned a contract with the French Football Federation running until June 2030. He will lead the squad in the 2027 UEFA Nations League, UEFA Euro 2028 and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Zidane appeared at his introductory press conference surrounded by media cameras.
The 54-year-old Zidane previously guided Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles, alongside multiple honours including two La Liga crowns and two FIFA Club World Cup trophies. He has remained out of coaching since leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2021.
